EP review by Jonas
"We will find our way to shore"
Post-hardcore artist In Transit's latest release is energetic and passionate. It is their first release on Ashtray Monument. After an eerie introduction, the EP kicks off with the heavy riffs from Poison Pills. This high-energy track shows us exactly what we are in for on this record with a blend of nu-metal, post-hardcore, and prog. In Transit never seems to be afraid of switching up the tempo or timing across this EP. Apertures opens much slower, reminding me of early TOOL. This is especially sold with Ben Bakker's yearning style of singing on this track. On the next track Lost in the Lights, we have another repeating chant, "We will find our way to shore". In Transit constantly shows the main theme of the EP, a yearning for a better future. Electric Sleep is a mostly instrumental track with an explosive ending. Nesting Dolls closes out the EP with the longest track yet. It is a bit of an epic, containing multiple of my favorite riffs on the release (especially the one that starts around the 1:12 mark). Illusionary is a great evolution of In Transit's sound, making it their best release yet.
"Illusionary" was released in 2024.
