Album review by Jonas

The anti-fascist black metal outfit Antacid Trip’s latest record “The Hellish Cycle” sets a new standard for our diy metal scene. Tim Ramsland on guitar and vocals, Brian Dingeman on bass and backing vocals, and Justin Grant on drums, this band breathes the ethos of our proud scene. Tim wrote, mixed, and mastered the album, while the band self recorded as well. The production and sound of the album has the perfect rawness that I prefer especially with this kind of music.
The first track with lyrics, Born to Breed, is a feminist track that throws you right into what this band is about. Beneath the Harvest Moon contains the incredible lines;
“The people are starving yet their profits have grown. The time has come for them to reap what they've sown.
Take up your hammer, take up your sickle too. Tonight we shall dine on bourgeoisie stew.”
While Drenched in Blood takes on the blood thirsty war mongering rich and powerful;
“You hide behind divine intervention
Propagating bigotry of your own invention
Promising peace, while spreading war
Slaughter the sheep, feed on the poor”.
“The Hellish Cycle” is absolutely a ripping album that is so worth reading along the lyrics to. (You can find them all on their Bandcamp.)
The Hellish Cycle was released on December 1st, 2025.
